Location: Concourse A, Denver International Airport
Completion: March 2026
Delta Airlines’ Denver Sky Club at Denver International Airport was designed as a premium, restorative lounge experience inspired by Colorado’s natural beauty, regional character, and elevated hospitality. The expanded Club includes a wide range of guest zones, from circulation seating and dining areas to media lounge seating and serpentine bar lounge banquettes. The project was part of Delta Airlines’ long-standing collaboration with THW Design, the firm responsible for helping shape Delta’s modern lounge experience across dozens of locations nationwide. THW Design has worked with Delta for decades to redevelop its lounge network into refined, hospitality-driven environments focused on comfort, premium materials, and regional storytelling. That attention to detail carried directly into the Denver Sky Club project, where nearly every finish, angle, proportion, and material selection was carefully reviewed and coordinated.
QA Group was selected by Tate Ornamental to fabricate the custom upholstered banquette package for Phase 2 of the Delta Sky Club DIA project. Unlike a standard upholstery-only scope, QA Group also fabricated the wood structures as part of the package, allowing tighter control over fit, comfort, proportions, and final execution. The scope included multiple large-scale upholstered banquettes, serpentine-shaped lounge banquettes, dining banquettes, L-shaped media lounge banquettes with integrated tables, and loose upholstered bolsters. The full package supported several areas throughout the Club, including circulation zones, the east and west bar lounges, dining, and the media lounge.
Because of the project’s scale and complexity, QA Group created mockups for each major seating style before full production began. Delta’s design team flew out to our headquarters in Seattle, WA inspect, test, and review the mockups in person. The review process was extremely detailed and hands-on, with the design team evaluating everything from comfort and posture to upholstery edge softness, button spacing, tufting alignment, stitching, and laminate grain direction on the wood structures.
The seating ergonomics received especially close attention. Team members reviewed the exact pitch and angle of the backs to evaluate how guests would naturally sit and relax within the lounge environment. Some reviewers even brought angle finders to physically measure seating angles and verify the intended comfort profile. This level of scrutiny reinforced the importance of precision throughout every stage of fabrication.
The mockup process provided valuable feedback that allowed QA Group to refine the final production package as the project evolved. Production officially began in Q3 2025, with the team managing a highly detailed scope involving multiple seating typologies, integrated power locations, laminate finishes, complex curves, and commercial-grade durability requirements.
The project included several custom construction elements throughout the lounge, including no-sag spring systems, double top stitching, integrated outlet blocking, planter details, button tuft spacing, bolster attachment system, and integrated media lounge tables. The serpentine lounge banquettes alone measured approximately 765″ (64 ft) and 617″ (51 ft) long respectively and required fabrication in multiple coordinated sections.
Materials were selected for both performance and aesthetics in a demanding hospitality environment. Select fabrics received Alta Food & Beverage treatment for additional stain resistance and long-term durability. Wilsonart Walnut Heights laminate was used throughout the project for top caps, integrated tables, planter details, outlet blocking, and upper bases, with strict grain direction requirements maintained throughout fabrication.
Throughout the project, QA Group worked collaboratively with the design team to help refine details and improve long-term functionality within the space. Rather than simply fabricating to specification, the QA Group team remained actively involved in problem-solving and constructability discussions to help achieve the best overall outcome. One example was the custom bolster attachment system developed by QA Group’s project management and production teams. The solution was designed not only to keep the loose bolsters properly positioned for guest comfort, but also to help prevent them from being moved excessively, misplaced, or removed entirely within the high-traffic lounge environment.
After installation, one detail related to adding dimension to the lower back upholstery required additional refinement. Based on earlier mockup feedback, QA Group had made notes intended to soften the upholstered edges and improve the rounded appearance. However, part of the final interpretation did not fully align with the intended design direction. To correct it, QA Group sent members of its team from Seattle to Denver to complete the refinements on site. Adjustments were made directly in the field to add dimension to the lower back upholstery and improve the appearance to better match the original design intent.
The final result was a highly customized, detail-driven upholstery and millwork package that helped bring Delta’s premium lounge vision to life. Through extensive mockups, collaborative reviews, precision fabrication, and on-site refinements, QA Group delivered seating environments designed to balance luxury, comfort, durability, and operational performance within one of Delta’s most ambitious lounge expansions to date!
